Professional Painting in Damascus – Trusted ExpertsYou may have this question on your mind, and I will answer the question, in an indirect way. The question bothers me for one specific reason. I believe the question "How to Estimate an Interior Paint Job", is not really the question for all that ask. Now to my mind, there are probably three plausible reasons for asking that question.1) The most obvious reason is actually, how to estimate an interior paint job. As is someone brand new in the field of painting, were to look at the inside of a room or home and say, "Duh, now what do I do?" This house painter has the lack of confidence of the Un-knowing, ready to tackle the unknown, and this is a good thing. This may be a total greenhorn who tried a little painting as a helper, but never actually ran the job managing money, buying paint and hiring and paying helpers or painters. He has the confidence of the Un-knowing, ready to tackle the unknown. This person is probably the easiest to teach estimating to and everything else because this painter is not closed minded. Basically all this painter needs is to show how to measure, use a measuring tool, read the can and do some basic calculations and add for paint. For this painter will learn as things get done. There really is not a whole lot that one can teach a bottom level painter or estimator without some painting experience. I would highly recommend this painter work for someone for a period of time. 2) This painter probably knows a little more, but is not an expert, and maybe a little closed minded, and not open to new things. This painter still wants to know, "How to Estimate an Interior Paint Job". This painter is not willing to give up longstanding habits. And although the way for this painter to rise above his problem is to let go of some preconceived ideas. Some things like the processes and techniques are not efficient. I have seen older painters who are very experienced do something over and over without ever examining their work habits. So if this contractor ever asks any questions at all, then the answer may leave the painter feeling threatened. This level of experience is the least capable and the least enjoyable to teach.3) The third painter knows that he is not an expert, and still wants to learn, because to this type of person, doing something the correct way is more important that the ego. This painter has the knowledge to paint, measure, but actually have another reason for asking, "How to Estimate an Interior Paint Job", and this arise out of a lack of understanding in a totally different area. This painter's question may arise because the jobs are losing money. The estimates are correct in their measurements, but one very important area is overlooked, and that is a realistic and objective look at the contractors "Selling Price", it is a very good possibility that this businessman is underselling his own work, and no amount of refining an estimate will correct this problem. 4) The problem for each of these painters who is asking "How to Estimate an Interior Paint Job," is best answered with some introspection. For number one, measuring a house is not difficult, very basic geometry will suffice.5) Number 2 Painter needs to do a little thinking about the processes.6) Number three has to think enough that knowing that the answer lies in a completely different direction.
How to Estimate an Interior Paint Job
In this Video by ABN Painting we are doing preparation work and spray painting the interior of a house in one color We start preparation work by running 12 inch masking paper along the bottom of baseboards and then cover the rest of the area with plastic In the kitchen when masking cabinets we are using blue painters tape Blue tape has very little adhesive and after we remove it in a few days it will not leave any residual glue on the cabinets we masked off all the lights and counter tops using a combination of paper and tape the refrigerator in the kitchen we moved a few feet away from the walls so we can spray paint the walls behind it and we cover refrigerator with plastic and the area around refrigerator with paper and tape In the laundry room we masked off the water heater moved the washer and dryer away from the wall and masked anything else that is not being painted with plastic and paper this is the look of the bathroom after we were finished with all preparation work this is one of the bedrooms we removed the blinds before masking the windows sliding doors in a closet we moved to the middle and masked everything around this is another bathroom where the closet has metal sliding doors that has been previously painted so we will be painting those doors as well we masked off all hardware for larger part of the house we used green tape.
most commonly we use this tape on exteriors It gives you approximately 3 days of clean removal On interiors it gives you alittle bit longer removal time after a few days when we remove this tape it will not any residual glue on the surfaces there are a few things in this house that we did not cover and that we usually cover other houses and one of those things is to wood handle in all the closets those have been spray-painted already so instead of removing those we will paint those as well The AC vents in this house are in pretty poor condition and if they were in a little bit better condition we would mask them but we are going to spray paint them instead the door hinges on all the doors throughout the house have been previously painted so we are not going to mask those as we usually do when setting up the paint sprayer we use the tarp underneath so if there's any paint spills they will end up on the tarp instead of the floor we made a cut in the plustic that is leading to the back patio that will let some of the fumes escape that will make spray painting easier the tile on the back patio we covered with plastic because we will be spray painting exterior later on don't have two worry about paint escaped from the inside of the house sticking to the tile on the outside.
we fixed all nail holes in the drywall using drywall mud after all preparation work have been completed now the house is ready for spray painting we use spray gun without using any extension to paint doors closets and any other hard to reach places after that we are using extention that helps us to paint faster any larger areas after we finished with spray painting we check for the touch ups and there are a couple places in this house that require our attention.
one of those places are metal hinges on all the door and the other the metal doors on one of the closets to get rid of all yellow spots we use oil base stain blocker and then we use the brush to touch up those areas whether we were going preparation work we washed all the doors cleaned all the shelves in the closets so right now after we done with touch ups we sweep all floors put the outlet covers covers and blinds back and the job is finished.
