In this Video by ABN Painting we are doing preparation work and spray painting the interior of a house in one color We start preparation work by running 12 inch masking paper along the bottom of baseboards and then cover the rest of the area with plastic In the kitchen when masking cabinets we are using blue painters tape Blue tape has very little adhesive and after we remove it in a few days it will not leave any residual glue on the cabinets we masked off all the lights and counter tops using a combination of paper and tape the refrigerator in the kitchen we moved a few feet away from the walls so we can spray paint the walls behind it and we cover refrigerator with plastic and the area around refrigerator with paper and tape In the laundry room we masked off the water heater moved the washer and dryer away from the wall and masked anything else that is not being painted with plastic and paper this is the look of the bathroom after we were finished with all preparation work this is one of the bedrooms we removed the blinds before masking the windows sliding doors in a closet we moved to the middle and masked everything around this is another bathroom where the closet has metal sliding doors that has been previously painted so we will be painting those doors as well we masked off all hardware for larger part of the house we used green tape.
most commonly we use this tape on exteriors It gives you approximately 3 days of clean removal On interiors it gives you alittle bit longer removal time after a few days when we remove this tape it will not any residual glue on the surfaces there are a few things in this house that we did not cover and that we usually cover other houses and one of those things is to wood handle in all the closets those have been spray-painted already so instead of removing those we will paint those as well The AC vents in this house are in pretty poor condition and if they were in a little bit better condition we would mask them but we are going to spray paint them instead the door hinges on all the doors throughout the house have been previously painted so we are not going to mask those as we usually do when setting up the paint sprayer we use the tarp underneath so if there's any paint spills they will end up on the tarp instead of the floor we made a cut in the plustic that is leading to the back patio that will let some of the fumes escape that will make spray painting easier the tile on the back patio we covered with plastic because we will be spray painting exterior later on don't have two worry about paint escaped from the inside of the house sticking to the tile on the outside.
we fixed all nail holes in the drywall using drywall mud after all preparation work have been completed now the house is ready for spray painting we use spray gun without using any extension to paint doors closets and any other hard to reach places after that we are using extention that helps us to paint faster any larger areas after we finished with spray painting we check for the touch ups and there are a couple places in this house that require our attention.
one of those places are metal hinges on all the door and the other the metal doors on one of the closets to get rid of all yellow spots we use oil base stain blocker and then we use the brush to touch up those areas whether we were going preparation work we washed all the doors cleaned all the shelves in the closets so right now after we done with touch ups we sweep all floors put the outlet covers covers and blinds back and the job is finished.

Most of the time estimating painting costs can be done with a formula that works pretty well from job to job.Cleanup - This part of the painting job is likely to be glossed over or ignored from an estimating position. This is a big mistake because it can take more time that the actual painting, depending on the job. If this part of the job is not done well the client may view the entire job as poorly done. And if done really well it may just put the crowning touch on the job. Estimating the time to properly cleanup after each job is critical to your estimate. If you short this part of the estimate, by not allowing enough time, then something has to give and the outcome is likely an unhappy customer. Average jobs can use a factor to estimate time. Example, an 8 hour interior job can be cleaned up in 8 hours x.1 =.8 hours. When I watch some of these "home remodeling" shows blow through the painting as if it is nothing, I laugh but then I think how much ignorance they create. When Norm does his woodworking magic it is an event to behold; but, when Carlos spends 3 hours vacuuming, dusting and cleaning windows after a paint job, it is nothing, it is not even mentioned.
